About the Artist
I was introduced to the world of bear making in 1996. I saw a teddy pattern in a magazine, made it and was hooked! Although I've enjoyed sewing for many years, making craft projects and clothing for my family, even working as a seamstress for 12 years, after making that first teddy I knew I'd found my passion. One year later, after classes in bear making and much experimentation, I designed my first pattern, which was nominated for a Golden Teddy Award. After that there was no going back. Made from original designs and the finest materials (mostly mohair, sometimes real fur) my teddies range from nine to twenty-nine inches. I do about 10 shows a year, along with my mother who makes wonderful sweaters for the bears, which has allowed me to meet many wonderful people. With the support of my family, my husband John and daughters, Stacy and Laurie, I have been able to do something I love, designing and making bears and nothing is more rewarding than seeing them make someone smile!
